I prepared a speech as our finals for EN103 last semester (1st sem of my 2nd year). I was inspired by my dream to make a spiritual revolution for our university. It taught me to stand on God’s principle that He is in the business of using small people like me to bear an impact and total true transformation in this generation. So, for the next years and centuries we could see our country as shining pearl of the orient.
Also, I am so proud to my school. That’s why in this speech, I put emphasis on what God can do for PLP in the near future.
We cannot isolate the truth that God can also use small universities for this land to be a better Philippines. The Lord loves to use who are low in profile. For example, the disciples of Jesus. If you will only look behind all the stories in the first 4 books in new testament, you could realize that the disciples were uneducated, innexperienced, weak and had less influence. Yet how can you imagine that Jesus chose them to be influencers and after 2000 years, they made an impact to the whole world! All credits are for Christ alone.
My faith is still the same. Youth can be history makers! We can change the world. But only by His Spirit we can make it possible. If we fully surrender our hearts to HIM and follow His footsteps, the battle will be like David and Goliath. The Lord will fight for us!

YOUNG HISTORY MAKERS
by ginoong lapis
My fellow classmates, PLPians, youth and friends, good afternoon.
Like you, there is nothing special in me . I also live a normal student life. I love to eat fish balls and drink sago-gulaman outside the campus as some of you do. I also feel joy, sadness, comforts, discomforts, love, brokenness, achievements, and failures as you experience. Indeed, there is nothing exceptional in me.But there is one event which changed how I perceive my life. One night, when I was standing in front of a mirror, I saw a vision. I clearly saw myself and other young people holding three flags of history. The first flag symbolized the nation’s pride, the second was the University of Pasig City’s banner of competence, and the other one was my MASTER’s light.
I asked myself: Who Am I? I am only a normal teenager. I am not intelligent, rich and well-to-do. When I again looked at the mirror, I doubted the image I was seeing. I also noticed that I was standing with a man of influence and a history maker. No! It’s not me, I told myself. But the LORD spoke to me clearly in a straightforward manner. He said, That would be you, MARLON! If you will only make MY NAME famous in your life and to other people.
Friends, what I saw and heard were not fantasies or hallucinations. I believe that we can be history-makers of this land! The experience convinced me of the need to believe in myself and have confidence even to the lowest members of our society, that someday they can be the future leaders of our country.
I want to be a Martin Luther King, Jr. who will voice out another dream for the next generation. It is my delight to be a Dr. Jose Rizal Junior who will formulate another principle to encourage the youth to excel and serve their countrymen.
We have to believe in ourselves. We can be models of excellence and competence. We should never put ourselves down because God has prepared a perfect plan for us, our university as well as to our country. We can all be vessels of national transformation! Even if you cannot imagine what I am saying right now, I tell you, you can!
Be proud of our University. For it is an apple in GOD’s eyes. I believe that one day, the students of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig will get out of their comfort zones and will be instruments of national transformation. I believe that one day this institution will be at par with UP, Ateneo and La Salle, and other outstanding universities of our country. It will never be the same again. I believe that the PLP’s performance will meet global standards. And I truly believe, without any hesitation, that students from PLP will be history makers! We can change the nation! We can change the whole world! Just believe in what God can do in your life.
But there are questions that beg an answer. How can we do this? How can we become history makers? I know one effective formula: Love God with all your heart, soul and mind. We can do nothing apart from Him. Proverbs 22, verse 11 provides us the direction: “He who loves a pure heart and whose speech is gracious will have the king for his friend”Honestly, I look up to learners who are consistent honor students and Dean’s listers. I always give praises to those who always get higher scores in their quizzes, those who know and can easily memorize various mathematical equations, formulas, concepts and science theories.
But I honor more those who do not live by secular knowledge alone. I am more delighted to see people who keep their hearts pure and always ready to serve others. I really admire people who apply God’s love in their lives.
Jesus once told his disciples, “If you truly love me, love the least of your brothers.” The Bible clearly states that we will be judged not according to our educational attainment, knowledge and wisdom but by our relationship with God and our character. We can only transform the lives of others if we, ourselves are transformed inside-out.Once again fellow PLP students and friends, you can change this university and this City, this nation and this world! What we are standing on right now is a battleground. Win it with full confidence and faith. Use the wisdom of the LORD in conquering this land. Do not lean on your own understanding and strength but rather trust the Lord in all your ways.
I believe that one day the impact of unity of every young person in this campus will start a fresh fire that will consume the whole country.
I believe that in the near future PHILIPPINES will rise up from poverty and be the nation that God really meant it to be.
I believe that there will be peace in MINDANAO.
I believe that massive corruption in government will end.
I believe that the curse of SIN that previous generations have imputed to this generation will be destroyed. God will be merciful to this generation.
I believe that the PHILIPPINES will be emancipated from the curse of poverty and we, the young people, will be the main actors in this remarkable historic events.
Do you want to be a history-maker? It is a choice you have to embrace. Being a history maker is more than an ambition, it is a passion–for people, for country, for your community, for your university, for the next generation and passion for the CREATOR of the heaven and earth.
Would you like to join in the battalion or you would choose to stay where you are? Would you like stay simple or strive to be excellent and be an extraordinary? It’s a choice. But whether or not I encourage you to believe, you can be a history maker whoever you are. Let us hold together. Work together. Fight together and win together! Dream.
Believe. Be an instrument of transformation. Nothing is impossible with GOD.
Thanks and GOD BLESS Youth!
